Sebastian was founded in 1972 in Los Angeles by hairdresser Geri Cusanza and her husband John Sebastian. Their first product was the crimping iron (Geri was inspired when braiding Barbra Streisand's hair to get a crimped effect) and was quickly followed by cellophanes - a new system of hair colour.
